ABOUT HEART LIFTING MINISTRIES
Doug was saved at the age of 14 and Donna was saved when she was 6. They met at Bob Jones University, where Doug received a B.A. in Bible and an M.A. in Pastoral Studies. They were married on April 22nd, 1972. Doug planted Faith Baptist Church in Corona, Queens, and served there for over 12 years. The Lowerys also served for nearly 11 years at Calvary Baptist Church in Sun Prairie, Wisconsin. They have four married children, and currently have five grandchildren.
After God called Doug & Donna Lowery into a new itinerant ministry in August of 1998, (following twenty-three years in the pastorate) the Lord gave Doug the idea of having several different ministries. A name for these new ministries came easy for Doug. Faith Baptist Church in Corona, Queens (their first ministry) was nicknamed, "The Church with a Heart in the Heart of Queens" and their songbook and CD are titled, "Songs to Lift the Heart." Since entering this new, itinerant ministry in September of 2002, the Lowerys have ministered in nearly 200 churches (and returned to many of those 2,3, 4, or more times) in 38 states.
Doug & Donna Lowery have the following ministries:
- Conducting revival meetings and evangelistic crusades at local fundamental churches, Bible Colleges, and Christian camps both in the USA and on foreign mission fields.
If the Pastor requests it, the Lowerys are prepared to conduct marriage & family seminars (and other crucial, practical topics) using the technology of Power Point presentations shown via a video projector. They have been scheduled for couples' retreats and Doug has ministered to men at church and camp retreats.
The Lowerys are available for mission conferences as well as stewardship banquets and other special events. Donna is a speaker for ladies events. (Mother/ Daughter luncheons, Ladies Retreats, etc.) After praying for over two years about joining a mission board, the Lord led the Lowerys to Open Door Baptist Mission (see odbm.org) in Greenville, South Carolina. (ODBM is a ministry of Morningside Baptist Church.) Doug and Donna were accepted into ODBM on March 19th, 2008, and are acting as "field representatives." They will be assisting church planters here in the States, visiting ODBM missionaries in foreign fields to be a help and encouragement to them, speaking and singing at mission conferences, and promoting missions at every church, Bible college, and Christian camp they minister in.
Doug & Donna provide special music in all of their various kinds of services, both vocal and instrumental (Doug playing the classical, acoustic guitar and Donna the piano and hammered dulcimer), singing songs that Doug has written, as well as other good conservative Christian music.Doug & Donna are available for sacred music programs, singing and playing with grace in their hearts to the Lord (Colossians 3:16), uplifting Christ's name and striving to be a blessing to God's people.
Evangelist Lowery has directed NYSET (the New York Summer Evangelism Team--see New York City Ministries for details) each summer beginning in 2004, and Doug and Donna will be the host and hostess of youth and adult mission teams that come to NYC for a week at a time during the summer months. The current team (2008) is made up of 9 people: two married couples (Dan and Maggie Klaus and the Lowerys); two young men (Sherif Ezzelarb and Patrick Hennessy); and, 3 young ladies (April Logan, Rachel Fugate, and Jessica Sullivan). This 8-week ministry is an exciting, edifying, and challenging experience for the team members, and a great help to NYC area churches.

Over the next several years, Doug and Donna hope to expand Heart Lifting Music by producing more CD's of the songs Doug has written (and other Christ-honoring music) and also choir arrangements of these original songs for use in churches.
