Contributions to Heart Lifting Ministries

You may be thinking, "Why does an itinerant evangelist need any financial support?" No, you have our ministry confused with that of the tel-evangelist! Itinerant evangelism is a faith ministry. Currently we have 5 churches who support us monthly (1 in Queens, NYC; 3 in Wisconsin; and 1 in Virginia), and this totals around $6,000 per year. Individuals have also contributed to our ministry monthly, annually, or with a one-time gift. Let me list just a few reasons why support is needed:
Ø Funds for those times when no churches are scheduled, and thus there is no income;
Ø The NYC summer ministry is costly (tolls, gas, parking, metro cards for the subway—everything is higher in the City), and needs outside support, because we work with many small, struggling, inner-city churches that often cannot give generous love offerings to the NYSET ministry;
Ø Funds for vehicle upkeep and vehicle replacement;
Ø Funds for foreign mission trips to aid and encourage God’s choice servants around the world (thus far since beginning this ministry, we have only been to the needy field of the Ukraine in 2004);
Ø Funds to be able to go in (without any cost to the brand new church) and help a church planter for a few weeks.
Let me explain two things to any potential contributors:
First, we are requesting that no one send any portion of their tithe money to Heart Lifting Ministries. Our conviction (and our practice) is that the tithe belongs to your local church ministry.
Second, as covered under ABOUT US, we are under Open Door Baptist Missions in Greenville, South Carolina. We are in missionary evangelism because of our ministry in New York City, and our desire to visit and assist ODBM missionaries abroad and ODBM church planters here in the States.
Checks should be made payable to Open Door Baptist Missions and designated to Doug and Donna Lowery on the memo line of the check. Their address is 1115 Pelham Road, Greenville, SC 29615-3603. ODBM does a wonderful job of accounting. We receive 100% of any gifts that come in. The accountant sends donors a receipt and a thank you letter. We receive a list of donors at the end of each month so we can also send a letter of appreciation. And, all donors receive a yearly statement of the total amount given that serves as a tax-deductible receipt.
