Our Mission Board

Donna and I prayed for over two years to be linked with a sound, fundamental, Baptist

mission board for several reasons: we wanted to help recruit missionaries, promote

missions, be under the accountability of a mission board, and have a vehicle to travel

abroad and help missionaries around the world. In February of 2008, our prayers were

answered. I was asked to speak at a Men's Conference at Morningside Baptist Church

in Greenville, SC, which is the center for Open Door Baptist Missions. Pastor Tony

Miller and I spoke about the opportunity of representing ODBM as we travel to

churches nationwide. He connected us with the Director of ODBM, John Burnette. We

spoke with he and his wife for nearly three hours that Sunday night and really

connected. Long story short, we were interviewed by the pastoral staff and deacons of

Morningside the Wednesday before Easter of 2008, and were accepted as missionaries

with ODBM. On Easter Sunday we went forward in the evening service to express our

desire to be members of Morningside. We are so grateful for our long relationship with

Faith Baptist Church in Corona, Queens (the church I planted in 1974). We had been

members there for several years and they were handling our financial contributions and

producing our prayer letter. We dearly love Pastor Vincent Sawyer and all the members

of FBC, and thank them for their continued monthly support, and we look forward

every summer to working with them two of the eight weeks of our NYSET ministry.

We are so thankful for this connection with ODBM, a local church mission board that

started in 1990 and already has 67 missionaries.
